Logitech K750 Wireless Solar Keyboard

Saturday, June 4th, 2011

The Logitech K750 wireless solar keyboard is an easy to use keyboard that is wider than most conventional laptop keyboards, which can make typing simpler for those with larger fingers.

Like many calculators, it is solar powered, which means that you will never have to buy batteries.

The Logitech K750 uses a conventional Windows keyboard, with keys labelled for Windows operations. It will work with OS X, but you will have to know which keys to use.

The keyboard is completely flat, so it is not the best keyboard for someone suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome, who would be better off with an ergonomic keyboard.  The Logitech 750 wireless solar keyboard does have two small kickstands so you can angle the keyboard slightly upwards, which some might find more comfortable.

A Logitech Unifying Receiver can be used to connect the Logitech K750 wireless solar keyboard. The Unifying receiver enables you to connect multiple USB devices (such as mouse and keyboard) through one small, wireless receiver, so if you have lots of USB devices, you don’t have to worry about having plugs everywhere.

Car Mouse

Monday, November 1st, 2010

Car MouseGadgetSo I got to the office today and there are all these little boxes from Amazon. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what I could have ordered that would appear in dozens of little, identically sized boxes. Until I opened one and said, ‘aah, the Car Mouses…’ and yes, the plural for a computer mouse is mouses.

Anyway, what can I say? I could drivel on about mouse sensitivity, pointer accuracy and resolutions ad nauseum, but what’s the point – it’s a computer mouse that looks like a car, with glowing headlights, different models and colours.

I’ve replaced everyone’s old, boring mouse in the office (Kevin had a roller-ball mouse from the dark ages!) and they all think they’re mint.

I know it’s only a little novelty, but they look cool and everyone’s desk has a toy car on it now which has brightened the place up nicely. Furthermore they’re dirt cheap, only 4.99 for the cheapest one which to me seems just as good as the rest – I think you just pay a bit more for fancy cars like TVRs etc.

A perfect and cost-effective way of chasing away some of those autumnal and winter blues.

Billion launches “belt and braces” broadband wireless router

Billion Electric Co is a Taiwanese netwworking devices manufacturer. Billion entered the UK marketplace 3 years ago with their innovative MI-Fi routers that translated Cellular broadband to Wi-FI. with their wide range of 3G routers. They now produce a wide range of 3G routers for domestic and commercial applications.

Their latest offering is the Bi aimed at users who have difficulties sustaining a decent broadband connection. The BiPac 7800GZ is a three-way router which utilises 3G or DSL as its access, and Wi-FI for its PC connections around the house or small office.

The 3G or DSL requires a HSPDA sim in order to access the broadband network(s). The company spiel is that this device has a Triple Wan interface, meaning it can make three different connections for your broadband – 3G, ADSL2+ and a physical connection via one of its ethernet ports. If the signal is dropped because one of these connections fails, the BiPac 7800GZ should be able to recover a connection. This makes it useful for critical applications.

The router has four ethernet ports and can be set up to immediately switch broadband sources the moment a connection is lost. In this event the network administrator can also be notified of the action taken, automatically, by email.

The broadband signal is recieved/transmitted via two decent, detachable 3G antennas. So a decent signal is picked up pretty much anywhere within range (No matchstick sized dongle antennas here!) .

The ADSL chip comes from Broadcom and the mobile broadband performance is helped along with 2 external detachable 3G antennas, which means you get a signal just about anywhere, instead of being limited to the tiny antennas inside 3G USB sticks and dongles.

The BiPAc 7800GZ:

-comes with a business-class firewall

-supports IPSec VPN capability

-has built-in Quality of Service (QoS) for bandwidth management and traffic prioritization.

-comes with a dedicated 3G usage tools so you can track 3G usage to help manage a subscription.

-can be set up to disconnect from 3G at a pre-determined threshold to avoid those costly overruns.

-The device supports HSPDA up to 7.2 Mbps and ADSL2+ speeds up to 24 Mbps, and 54 Mbps Wireless.

Edward Kung, UK Managing Director of Billion says: “The 7800GZ is a fantastic addition to Billion’s already impressive portfolio of business routers. The embedded SIM feature is a response to customer demand for a more resilient 3G router solution, but at a competitive price. The 7800GZ gives enterprise-level performance at a fraction of the cost of a similarly spec’d Sarian or Cisco product.”
